The average age of onset is 63 years for women and 69 years for men. Interestingly, the age-standardized disease rates rose sharply around 2008, presumably in response to the introduction of skin cancer screening in July 2008. Since 2012, the incidence rate among women has fallen slightly, but has remained largely constant among men. Mortality rates have hardly changed in the period under review.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-948dbca elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"948dbca\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"740\" height=\"493\" src=\"https:\/\/hautzentren.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/eaf5dc_bfa65729e80d4c7a86033d4e34d4bbb7mv2.webp\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-image-4774\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hautzentren.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/eaf5dc_bfa65729e80d4c7a86033d4e34d4bbb7mv2.webp 740w, https:\/\/hautzentren.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/eaf5dc_bfa65729e80d4c7a86033d4e34d4bbb7mv2-300x200.webp 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5c16153 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5c16153\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Melanoma types and prognoses<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ae2f19a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ae2f19a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Superficial spreading melanoma dominates the melanoma cases and has a favorable prognosis. Other forms such as nodular and amelanotic melanoma have a less favorable prognosis. The relative 5-year survival rates are currently 95 percent for women and 94 percent for men. Encouragingly, around 67 percent of all melanomas are discovered at an early tumor stage.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b9c19a4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b9c19a4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Risk factors and prevention<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d5b570c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d5b570c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A key risk factor for malignant melanoma is ultraviolet (UV) radiation, especially intensive sun exposure. Both natural radiation and artificial UV radiation, for example in a solarium, increase the risk. Sunburns at any age are another risk factor. Congenital pigmentation marks, especially larger moles, and a light skin type are significant risk factors.
