Acne
Individualized therapies
Acne is a serious skin condition and can severely affect self-confidence. Pimples and sometimes painful pustules are usually caused by overactive sebaceous glands. In addition to the face, they can also appear on the back and décolleté. Dermatologists differentiate between different types of acne. They can appear for the first time at any age, which is why they are referred to as puberty acne and adult acne.
DIAGNOSIS
After a comprehensive examination and diagnosis, our dermatologists carry out a skin analysis using a digital reflected light microscope to perform an in-depth analysis of the condition of the skin’s pores.
Types of acne and their development
Puberty acne: The hormonal changes during puberty in adolescents can also lead to a dysfunction of the sebaceous glands. They produce excess sebum, which forms calluses and clogs the sebaceous glands. Bacteria can cause painful and sometimes pus-filled pustules.
Acne in adults: Late acne, also known as adult acne or late acne, affects adults from the age of around 25. Puberty acne can often develop into adult acne later in life, but people who have never had acne can also develop it. This can be caused by stress, autoimmune diseases, medication, hormonal imbalances and incorrect skin care.
Therapy
Medical acne treatment requires patience and patient compliance. The treatment options are numerous and can be customized depending on the type, extent and severity. We differentiate between external (e.g. with creams) and internal (tablets) therapy. For external treatment, our dermatologists successfully use various treatments in the practice, such as
Fruit acid peeling
medical cleansing
Microdermabrasion
Oxygen treatment
LED light therapy
It is important to complement any acne treatment with appropriate home care. In severe cases of acne, systemic treatment may be necessary.
