Skin diseases in adults

Rosacea is one of the most common skin diseases in adults and usually occurs for the first time between the ages of 30 and 50. It is characterized by an enlargement of the capillaries and has an inflammatory character. Affected patients often also experience redness, burning, pain and nodules.

TYPES OF ROSACEA

Rosacea telangiectatic: This form of rosacea is initially characterized by a reddening of the nose and cheeks, which is caused by the dilation of the blood vessels. Persistent congestion of the blood in the capillaries can lead to permanent vasodilatation and also to the formation of new small vessels. Rosacea papulopustulosa: In this form of rosacea, the sebaceous glands become inflamed, which can be visible to the eye as pustules or papules. In addition, the dilation of the capillaries can lead to facial redness.

Diagnosis

The clinical picture is usually sufficient to diagnose rosacea. In the early stages, the capillaries and early forms of the disease can be recognized by the dermatologist using a dermatoscope.
